Why We Built Spout

We started Spout in October 2019 because we saw a growing and ever present need for a new regenerative solution for drinking water. Over the last three years, we've developed an ingenious solution that provides a reliable, cost-effective and a sustainable way to harvest pure water from air.  Our mission is to create the next wave of water abundance with a customer first approach, and create water producing technology accessible to as many people as possible.

Originally, Reuben came to grips with the reality that water is finite, when his family faced their farm’s water rights being threatened by the State of California in 2014.

Their farm began in 2010, when they planted 14 acres of young olive trees with the hope of producing olive oil for the nearby city of Los Angeles. But before their first harvest, they got a letter from the State of California saying because there’s a drought, the water from their well may be restricted or taxed, threatening their wellbeing.

Shortly after that letter, while walking his dog in the morning, Reuben recognized dew on a grassy field, and thought that there must be a way to harness this natural process. From there he made countless prototypes to find ways to do this as reliably, inexpensively, and as safely as possible.
