Set Spout on a firm, level surface with at least 6 inches (150 mm) of clearance on each side for airflow, then plug into a grounded outlet. Seat the lid into the pitcher (line up the arrows on the lid and handle), slide the pitcher into the machine, and flip the power switch on the back to ON.
Before your first glass, hand-wash the pitcher and lid in warm, soapy water. Never submerge the lid, and never pour hot water into the pitcher. A blinking white light means Spout is ready with no pitcher inside; press the mode button for Blue (highest water output) or Green (energy-saving).
Important: discard the first four pitchers of water to purge a new filter, both out of the box and after any water-filter change.
- Give it airflow. The more open space around Spout, the better. Leave room on every side and keep the air intake and exhaust clear.
- Don't tuck it under a cabinet or into a tight nook. It needs open space above and around it to pull in air and vent.
- Open a window for fresh air. Fresh, more humid air helps Spout make more water.
- Don't move it while it's running. Spout has an anti-tip sensor, so power it off before you move it.
- Keep the air around it clean. Don't burn scented candles or incense, or use air fresheners, perfumes, essential oils, diffusers, or aerosol sprays near Spout. It draws that air in, which can affect your water and the machine.
- Skip poor air quality. If your indoor air quality is uncertain, pause use until conditions improve. During nearby wildfire or smoke events, or when the AQI is significantly elevated (100+), avoid operating Spout and wait for cleaner air.
Replace both the air and water filters every 3 months. An orange light ring is your reminder. Turn Spout off and unplug it first.
Remove the right side panel using the depression at the back; it hinges forward and lifts off. Air filter: use the Spout logo as a handle to pull the cartridge out, then slide in a new pack with the black carbon side facing out and the pleated side facing in. Water filter: grab the top and rotate it down to free the fill tube, pull the filter body up until it stops, then slide the included quick-disconnect tool up to release the locking ring while gently pulling the fitting down.
A little dripping from the old filter is normal. Keep water out of the machine's housing so you don't trip the leak sensor. Reinstall the panel, discard the first four pitchers, then reset the reminder by pressing and holding the light-ring button for 5+ seconds.
More filter help in the FAQ →Spout makes water from humidity in the air, so your daily output rises and falls with the room's temperature and humidity. Warm, humid air yields the most; cool, dry air yields less.
First, check placement. A Spout tucked under a cabinet or into a tight nook can't pull in enough air, which lowers output. Give it open space, at least 6 inches (150 mm) clear on each side, with the air intake and exhaust unblocked.
To boost production further, use Blue mode (high fan, high heat), open a window or move Spout to a warmer, more humid room, and keep the air and water filters fresh (a clogged filter cuts output). Also check that the inlet water line at the bottom of the filter isn't kinked. The high-speed fan sound is normal, it's pulling air in to draw water out.

Contact the team →The pitcher, lid, and appliance are hand-wash only with a mild detergent. Hand-wash the pitcher about once a week to keep it fresh. Never submerge the lid, and never pour hot or boiling water into the pitcher. Wipe the machine down with a soft cloth.
When you change filters, it's normal to see dust or grime inside the side panel, that's what Spout scrubbed out of your air; wipe it with a soft cloth or warm, soapy water. The pitcher lid's built-in UV-C light keeps water fresh for up to 24 hours on the counter or in the fridge, and only runs when the lid is properly seated. All water-contact parts are BPA-free, food-grade materials.
