Good water takes precise chemistry.

Charles F. “Chubb” Michaud

Water chemist & filtration advisor

Chubb has spent more than four decades working in water treatment. A chemical engineer and founder of Systematix, he brings deep experience in activated carbon, ion exchange, and filter media. In 2014, he received the Water Quality Association’s Hall of Fame award.

He has served on the Water Quality Association’s Board of Directors and Board of Governors, and chaired its Commercial & Industrial Section.

At Spout, Chubb has helped guide our filtration development, from selecting media and reviewing water tests to refining how water moves through the filter.

How we found our taste.

We worked with Chubb to compare filter media, taste the water, and refine its mineral balance. Early taste tests helped us identify the carbon that brought out the flavor we wanted. Today, activated carbon helps polish the taste, while calcium and magnesium give our naturally low-mineral water its character.

That balance is part of what makes a glass of Spout taste like Spout.
